Newton Canadian offers Spring U13 Peewee play in A division.
Peewee age players can be trained and hired to umpire 9U Tadpole and 11U Mosquito level games. All potential umpires must register as member of the BC Umpires Association and attend pre-season Umpire Training.
At the Peewee level base paths are set at 70 feet and Pitchers throw from 48 feet. Lead offs and stealing are allowed and games are 7 innings long. Balk balls are called on pitchers and running to 1st on a dropped 3rd strike is allowed (if 1st base is unoccupied, or if 1st base is occupied with 2 out).
All registered Peewee players are guaranteed a place on one of the Newton Canadian U13 Peewee A teams that play in an interlock league in the Spring with teams from Surrey, North Langley, Coquitlam-Moody, Cloverdale and Port Coquitlam. There is therefore travel involved to other parks in the region. League games can take place any day of the week. Weeknight games start at 5:30pm in April and move to 6:00pm in May and June.
