Peewee A (13U)

GENERAL INFORMATION

Baseball for 12-13 year olds

The 13U Peewee division plays 7 innings per game. There are 70 feet between bases and 48 ft. from
pitching rubber to home plate. There is a maximum of 6 runs per inning, except in the last inning, where
unlimited runs may be scored. Lead offs and stealing are allowed, balk balls are called on pitchers and
running to 1st on a dropped 3rd strike is allowed (if 1st base is unoccupied, or if 1st base is occupied with
2 out).
This is a tiered division where athletes have the opportunity to try-out for our AA “Rep” program or can opt
into our A “Recreational” program for the spring season. Players are assessed and drafted by coaches
onto evenly balanced teams. The spring season runs from April to mid-June. All players bat in rotation
and Umpires are required for each game.
The A Program is offered for those who prefer to participate in a more recreational style of play. At this
level there is a greater focus on participation and increased opportunities to explore a variety of positions.
The AA Program is designed for experienced players who are invested in the game of baseball. It is at
this level where players begin to focus on a few key positions and explore training specific to those
needs. This is the most competitive program at the 13U level during spring season where competition and
greater emphasis on strategy becomes a larger component of the game.

Interlock – Spring Season
Newton Canadian 13U Peewee teams play in an interlock league in the spring with interlock rules. There
is travel involved to surrounding areas. League games can take place any day of the week. Weeknight
games start at 5:30pm in April and move to 6:00pm in May and June. All game scores are recorded, and
standings are in place to determine play off and championship games. Pitch counts are applied to protect
players.

Summerball: Peewee offers a summer “All-Star” season. Tryouts usually take place in mid-May. The
season usually runs from late June through mid-August with the opportunity to qualify for provincials.
There are additional fee(s) for those participating in the summer program. There is travel involved to play
other teams.
